Also speaking are Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and Ekiti State Finance Commissioner Akintunde Oyebode.

The Sustainability Table celebrates its tenth anniversary by convening a two-day summit on 15-16 October 2026 at Lagos’s Balmoral Convention Centre, which is part of the Federal Palace Hotel complex. The event is positioned as a milestone for regional collaboration on climate and development goals.

Emir of Kano to Open the Event

His Highness Mohammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, will deliver the opening keynote titled “People, Planet & Prosperity: The Decade of Delivery.” The address is intended to move the dialogue from abstract discussion toward concrete results that can be tracked after the conference ends.

Also speaking are Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and Ekiti State Finance Commissioner Akintunde Oyebode. Both officials will outline fiscal strategies designed to fund sustainability projects and to align state budgets with climate-resilient investments.

Broad Representation Across Sectors

Participants include Kwara State First Lady Olufolake AbdulRazaq, National Council on Climate Change Director-General Tenioye Majekodunmi, and NESREA CEO Innocent Barikor. Private-sector voices feature Africa Finance Corporation Vice President Adam Boros and Oando Clean Energy chief Ademola Ogunbanjo. Their combined presence reflects a mix of public policy expertise and industry experience aimed at accelerating green financing.

The agenda lists four focus areas: Nigeria’s energy outlook, technology and artificial intelligence for the Sustainable Development Goals, circular-economy practices, and resilient food-system logistics. Each track is scheduled to host panel discussions, case-study presentations, and interactive workshops.

Kayode Olaniyan, convener of the series, warned that the main shortfall is execution, not ambition. He emphasized that the next decade must deliver tangible projects after the meetings end, urging participants to move beyond pledges and to secure measurable outcomes.

Investment, Innovation and Showcases

Day Two will host masterclasses and a dedicated Investment & Deals Room, linking capital providers with vetted projects. An Innovation Pitch Finale will allow startups to present to potential financiers, offering a platform for emerging technologies to attract seed and growth funding.

Additional cultural elements include “The Earth Speaks” art exhibition, a coffee-table book launch titled A Decade at the Table: From Conversation to Transformation, and the premiere of a documentary called Nigeria 2030: The Sustainability Imperative – A Decade of Dialogue. These programs are designed to engage attendees on creative and narrative dimensions of sustainability.
